What is Digital Message Center?
A Digital Message center is a digitally controlled and programmable panel of LEDs ( Light Emitting Diodes). Some signs can display red, white, amber or green text, or video and animation with over 1 billion colors.

Are there other alternatives to brick or stone base?
YES! new technology has afforded a less expensive, cost effective alternative to brick and stone bases. With new design solutions we provide our clients DURABILITY second to none.All components of the construction are synthetic materials made of 100% aggregate acrylic. Construction consists of a solid, shaped, polystyrene core, sealed for durability and strength with a thick polyurethane hard coat and finished with a 100% acrylic textured finish. Plus installation of these structures is an easy process. Direct burial installation and light weight are definite advantages.
Do you offer financing?
Yes! We do offer financing for our traditional changeable message signs, and our Digital Message Center signs . Do you install the sign?
Most churches or schools opt to install the sign themselves, but we can install your sign if it is within a 75 mile radius of St. Louis, MO. Our signs are easy and convenient to install with just two people. We provide easy to follow instructions that you can follow step-by-step.
What about shipping?
We can ship your sign to you by the least expensive carier, if farther than 50 miles. If closer than 50 miles,we can courier it to your location,if you are within our courier area. Please call 1-800-684-4548 for more information.
What do I do about permits?
Most communities will require a sign permit. Check with your local municipality for their guidelines. RM Signs will help you with the permit drawings you will need for your sign permit, at no additional cost.
For illuminated signs, many communities require a separate electrical permit to be issued to a liscensed electrical contractor. Unfortunately RM Signs is not liscensed to do this for you. Please check with your local municipality for their requirements.
What is required to get a sign permit?
This usually involves filling out an application and providing several copies of drawings. The drawings of your actual sign can be provided to you from RM Signs at no extra cost. A site plan indicating where your sign will be installed in relation to the building, property lines, easements, etc. is required also. RM Signs can help you with these drawings as well. There may be a nominal charge for these drawings.
What electrical connection is required?
All of our illuminated signs operateon standard 110 volt AC. The amperage requirements depend on model. Models 460, 480, 484 - use 4 amps Models 510 & 412 - use 7 amps. Model 515 - uses 11 amps. We generally recommend that the sign be connected to a dedicated 15 amp circuit. If the sign is connected along with other ground lighting, be sure there is generous amperage available because more current may be required at start-up.
Is a lighted sign costly to operate?
Our signs are illuminated with efficient high output flourescent lamps. Based on 6¢ per kw/hr rate, Model 480 costs .26 for a 10 hour period.
Does RM Signs make wood signs anymore?
Rm Signs generally does not use wood. Wood signage deteriorates rapidly and therefore does not make a good base material for signage. Under certain conditions and for special effects wood may be used for interior signage or exterior painted MDO (plywood) may be used for certain outside applications. RM Signs uses HDU ( high density urethane) for all its sand carved signs. This material will not rot or peel and will virtually last a lifetime. We also use several other man-made materials which are more suitable for interior and exterior applications. You won't find a better sandcarving facility than the one designed and manufactured by RM Signs, Inc. Stop by and we'll show you some samples.
Do you charge for design work?
We do not charge for the first design included in the proposal, price quote or statement of work. Additional designs and changes to the original design are billed at the prevailing rate.
